Low-Effort Habits That Support Your Overall Wellbeing

When life gets busy, self-care is usually the first thing to get scrubbed off the list, but the fact is that looking after your wellbeing doesn’t have to be hard - in fact, it can be really easy, and not at all overwhelming. The truth is, some of the very best habits to get into are just very small ones that won’t seem like much (especially on their own), but can definitely add up into something amazing. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about some handy low-effort habits that can support your overall wellbeing.

Rest Is More Than Sleep

Getting enough sleep is absolutely important - crucial, actually - but it’s also important to remember that rest isn’t just about shutting your eyes and dozing off (or trying to, as the case may be). What you actually need to find is just find small periods of time during the day when you can switch off mentally, but that’s another kind of rest that’s really going to help support your overall wellbeing.

As we said before, it doesn’t have to be hard (and if it is, it’s probably not doing you much good in the end) because you can literally do things like turning off notifications for an hour, stepping outside with a cup of tea, or just closing your eyes and listening to music for a bit. The point is, these easy, low-effort things can act as perfect breaks, and if you do them regularly, they’ll do you a lot of good.

Look After The Basics

Hydration, movement, nutrition… you know you need to include it in your routine, but it’s always worth reminding yourself how important it all really is because these are the kinds of things that can so easily be overlooked in the end.

The real trick with this is not to get too complicated and make things difficult for yourself. Instead, you can just drink one extra glass of water a day, or invest in a refillable water bottle if that’s easier, and you can make sure you’ve got healthy snacks with you for when you start to lose a bit of energy and you’re feeling hungry. Even if you only make one healthy choice a week to begin with, that’s a great start, and the momentum is sure to build.

Don’t Ignore The Small Stuff

Maybe you’ve had a weird ache for a few weeks, or perhaps there’s a bit of an irritation in your ear, or you don’t think you can see as well as you once did… well, these are the little things that could turn into much bigger things, and the longer you ignore them because you’re busy or you’ve got more interesting things to do!

It’s therefore always a wise idea to get any ache or pain or unusual feeling checked out, and to keep on top of your health as part of your routine - something as simple as ear wax removal done on a regular basis can help stop your ears getting blocked and improve how clearly you can hear things, so it’s well worth looking into.
