7 Ways Yoga Can Transform Your Life

I’m sure we all know what exactly yoga is. Or do we? If you believe Yoga is simply a number of difficult stretching positions and breathing exercises, then you aren’t even half-right about what it is.

Yoga is a lot more than physical exercise. I believe Yoga is more like a journey. If you embark on this journey, you will probably not see an immediate change in your life. But, a couple of months down the road, when you look back to the person you were when you started doing Yoga, you would surely see a change.

I know I’m being excessively cheesy. But Yoga can indeed transform your life in many different ways. Here are just a few of the changes that Yoga brings in your life:

Self-Awareness

I know that we are already self-aware; at least in the literal sense. But the self-awareness you get from Yoga is entirely different.

You get to truly discover yourself. You will be better able to identify your flaws, recognize your strengths and work on being an overall much better human being. It will be like you can see yourself from another perspective when you are talking to others, working or doing pretty much anything.

This is attributed to the long duration of meditation and emptying your mind that you go through in Yoga.

Positivity

When you know your strengths and weaknesses and you are entirely sure of everything that you have to work on, you start feeling more positive. Pessimism comes from lurking in the unknown and optimism surfaces when you have a goal and you know you can work towards it.

Physical Fitness

Naturally, you also become a lot more physically fit than you used to be. Your range of motion increases because of the stretching and you get much better at sports.

Healthy Eating

Since your physique is toning up, you try to not ruin it by eating junk and high-calorie foods. You switch to healthy food and feel much more energized.

Relaxation

How often have you wanted to leave everything and relax in a massage chair for hours? Well, with Yoga, that urge will disappear. Recent scientific studies have shown that regular Yoga reduces the stress-hormone cortisol and increases good hormones like serotonin. This is great for reducing anxiety and depression in people and making them feel happier.

Spirituality

This does not mean that Yoga makes you religious. Instead, Yoga is great for making you feel connected to your soul. You meditate for longer periods of time and feel more in control of your life than you have ever been.

Confidence

Lastly, I have noticed that Yoga makes you every bit as confident as you should be. This can be attributed to you-look-good-you-feel-good theory, but I believe there is a lot more to it than that.

Since we have mentioned that you become self-aware, you are naturally able to analyze a situation and formulate a plan really well. This gives you all the confidence you need to be successful in life.
