7 Ways To Prepare For Your Baby's Arrival
Bringing new life into the world is a wonderful thing; however, there is a lot to think about with a new baby's arrival.
Did you know that there are an estimated 350,000 babies born every day?
If you've got a baby on the way, you're definitely not alone! Being pregnant is an incredibly exciting time but also a busy one, and you'll have lots to do before your baby's arrival.
If you want to stay organized and make sure you get everything done, it's a great idea to make a to-do list. But, where do you start?
To help you out, we've put together 7 things you should do in your third trimester to prepare for your newborn.
1. Schedule Your Prenatal Visits
In your third trimester, it's likely that you'll have a checkup around every 2 weeks until 36 weeks. After that, expect a checkup every week until your newborn baby arrives! Make sure to schedule these in early so you don't over-book your weeks.
2. Have You Taken All of Your Classes?
There are tons of classes you can do in the lead up to your baby's arrival, both in-person and online! If you're not feeling confident in an area, such as breastfeeding or infant CPR, make sure you sign up for a class. A lot of hospitals offer the essential classes so ask your doctor if you'd like a few more classes before D-Day.
3. Last Chance for 4D Baby Scans
Baby scans are a lovely way to track your baby's growth and a great keepsake for when your little one's all grown up. If you haven't had yours yet, add it to your to-dos before baby's arrival! If you'd love a detailed scan, opt for a 4D ultrasound.
4. Find a Doctor for Your Baby
Your baby is going to need a paediatrician, so find one early so you're prepared. Get recommendations from friends, family, and your prenatal team. You also need to check that the doctor will accept your health insurance and their hours fit in with your daily schedule.
5. Put Together Your Hospital Bag
Putting together your hospital bag is one of the most exciting things to do in the lead up to your baby! Make sure you pack some comfy PJs for your stay and some post-birth-friendly clothes for your journey home. You'll also need clothes for your baby and sleepover essentials for your hospital stay.
6. Create Your Birthing Plan
If you haven't already, it's time to create your birthing plan! Talk to your prenatal team if you're not sure where to start and research different birthing techniques, such as hypnobirthing, to see which you'd like. Make sure your partner and medical team are aware of your plan.
7. Get Everything Washed and Ready
It's important you wash all your baby's clothes before they arrive. Use a non-bio detergent that's safe for sensitive baby skin. Store them in a safe, dust-free place.
Get Excited About Your Baby's Arrival
If you're in the third trimester, your baby's arrival is very soon! Make sure you're ready before your due date in case your little one decides to make an early arrival.
