5 Things To Expect During The First 6 Months Of Your Babies Life

Mom and new born baby - what to expect During The First 6 Months Of Your Babies Life

During the first few days of your baby’s life, you’ll be filled with excitement about all of the upcoming milestones and progression that you’re about to witness.  However, despite all of the excitement and happiness, don’t be surprised if you also feel total uncertainty about what you’ve just gotten yourself into.

Although you can prepare yourself as best as you can, sometimes the only way to learn is through charging straight ahead.  Not all babies are the same, and not all parents are the same.  Be patient with yourself and the experience and be prepared for the following.

Varying Emotions

It’s completely normal to have a wide range of emotions following giving birth.  One minute you feel elated and the next moment you feel anxious and full of doubt.  Some people experience depression and have a difficult time adjusting to bonding with their baby.

Just remember, that regardless of how you’re feeling, there’s probably someone out there experiencing the same thing.  Your body has undergone a huge, and it’s normal to feel yourself out of sorts initially.

Talk to your doctor about your symptoms, and they can help determine if you require any treatment.

Sleepless Nights

Unfortunately, babies don’t come out of the womb with the same sleeping patterns as their parents.  Since they require to eat regularly to stay alive, most babies only sleep stretches of two to four hours in the beginning.

Don’t be surprised to find yourself walking around like a zombie for the first six months of their life.  It’s all a part of the process, and before you know it, waking up nine times a night will be nothing but a distant memory.

Growing Out Of Clothes Quickly

Be careful about putting away your baby’s clothes out of sight.  In the blink of an eye, they can grow an entire clothing size overnight.  You may find yourself never even using half of their clothes on them if you don’t act quickly.

For this reason, you may want to consider using second-hand clothing for the first stage of their life since they’ll grow out of it so fast.

Doctor Scares

New parents are easily scared about illnesses and injuries.  Don’t be surprised to have your doctor on speed dial, calling them up three times a day concerned about the slightest cough or red spot.

As your baby gets older and you become more adjusted to parenthood, you’ll worry much less over time.

Lack of Social Life

Since your baby requires so much energy and attention, it’s expected that you probably won’t have much of social life for a while.  Initially, it may be difficult to adjust to missing your old friends. However, you’ll start to find that you may connect more with friends who have children too.
