We don’t know about you, but we cannot wait for the summer months! It’s going to be amazing to go outside, get some fresh air, and soak in the sun. However, if your backyard is lacking, you may not be so excited to spend much time out there or entertain guests who’ve received their COVID vaccine.
Don’t worry because Homelight’s Q1 2021 survey reveals what backyard upgrades will turn your backyard from an embarrassment to a host’s dream. Let’s take a look at the top upgrades you’ll want to consider doing to your backyard!
1. Firepit and lounge area
Homeowners love these features because they want a place to relax and enjoy the crackle of a cozy fire. They’re so popular, 76.8% of agents say fire pits and lounge areas are among the top backyard features.
2. Improved lighting
Lighting is necessary for safety, but 54.4% of agents say homeowners are going beyond regular fixtures that come with the house. They’re installing spotlights, string lights, lanterns, and recessed lighting to improve ambiance.
3. Built-in grill
Grilling and summertime go hand in hand, so it’s not surprising that 53.9% of agents say homeowners in their area are upgrading from an old charcoal grill to a built-in grill.
4. Outdoor living room
It isn’t enough to have a lounging area near a firepit - 52.4% of agents say their clients are creating an outdoor living space where they can entertain guests. An outdoor living space can feature a seating area, a television (providing the living space will be covered), tables, and even an outdoor rug!
5. Large space for yard games
Who doesn’t love a good game of cornhole or horseshoes? Apparently, a lot of folks are fans of backyard games because 43.2% of agents say homeowners in their areas are clearing out space in their backyards so they have plenty of space for outdoor games.
