4 Health Problems With Super Simple Fixes

Many people imagine that their health problems are difficult to combat and that they won't be able to overcome them in the short term, if at all. It turns out that a lot of the issues people face aren't really serious at all. Instead, they have very simple fixes that just require a bit of deliberate action.

Here are some examples:

Morning stuffiness

You might think that morning stuffiness is just a part of life, so when you wake up with a scratchy throat and a stuffy nose, it's an inevitability. If you think about it carefully, you'll notice that this stuffiness tends to pass within a couple of hours of waking.

The culprit is almost always a dust mite allergy. Dust mites thrive in pillows and mattresses and feed on dead skin cells. When you turn over, their microscopic waste products get into your respiratory system and cause allergies. The problem is that standard pillowcases have gaps in the fabric that dust mites pass through easily.

Put your mattress and pillows in zipped mattress and pillow allergen covers to create a physical barrier that traps existing dust mites and prevents new ones from nesting. Then all you need to do is wash your sheets weekly in hot water, and you can eliminate all of the dust mites in your sleeping environment.

The slump at 3:00 PM

If you're somebody who experiences a slump in energy levels at 3:00 p.m., combined with fatigue and a headache, then the culprit could be subclinical dehydration. Unfortunately, many people have a condition where their brain only registers thirst when hydration levels are down between 1% and 2%, which is already enough to cause tiredness and headaches.

The fix is to drink plenty of water at lunchtime. If you can get a 12 oz glass down during your lunch, you won't find yourself reaching for the afternoon coffee that can disrupt your sleep later in the day.

Head in a barrel sensation

If your ears are blocked up, you can also experience a head-in-a-barrel sensation. This is where everything sounds like your head is literally stuck in a barrel or you're underwater. The cause is often excessive earwax production, or earwax that isn't flaking out of the ear naturally because the mechanism to push it out isn't working.

The fix is the good news: the fix is easy. Just find earwax removal services in your local area. Don't try to fix the problem at home with online techniques like candling or trying to pick it out with a cotton bud. Both of these techniques are dangerous and can lead to damage to the eardrum and the outer ear.

Lower back aches

Finally, if you have an ache in your lower back, you may think that it's just a part of the ageing process. A persistent pinch often has more to do with the way you stand. The most common issues are:

  • Forward head posture

  • Pelvic tilting

You can correct these issues by going to a physiotherapist and asking them to give you exercises specifically to help improve your posture and keep you upright.
