The queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips delivered a seven-pound, twelve-ounce royal crumpet at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital this morning. Her name has yet to be announced, but Zara and her very British-looking, rugby-star husband, Mike Tindall, have reportedly already taken their new baby home. Phillips's daughter is the queen's fourth great-grandchild, and sixteenth in line to the throne.

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY
TO THE QUEEN

"Mrs Michael Tindall today safely delivered a baby girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 7lbs 12oz.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.

This baby is the first child for Zara and Mike, the third grandchild for The Princess Royal and the fourth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, and is 16th line to the Throne."

Meanwhile, Prince George is sitting somewhere, cool as a royal cucumber about the threat of this new, cute thing stealing his spotlight. This wouldn't be the first time he's made quick work of the competition.
