Recommended Ways To Amuse Yourself In Your Last Trimester
Your ankles are swollen. So is your neck. You feel like the whole world is having brunch in your butt, and you can barely move with the sheer weight of it all. Your hormones have gone haywire, and your crying spells have returned with a vengeance. Your husband does not know what to do. It's your first baby, after all. Or if it's your second or third, he's simply not catching up well enough, and therefore he's also about to lose his mind.
The third trimester of pregnancy could be difficult. And because it tends to be challenging, you might get wrapped up in doing nothing and sulk instead. Such won't be good for your mental health. Yes, you must keep yourself entertained to keep those pregnancy blues at bay and salvage your husband's sanity.
Here are our recommended activities. They won't require much other than casual dedication at the least.
Start gardening
Your initial reaction to this suggestion might be: βAre you frickin' kidding me?β And that's quite valid. But hear us out first. The more sedentary you get, the harder it will be for you physically. To ease those aching joints and muscles and surplus fat, you must keep moving.
Moreover, gardening is believed to be a healing activity. It's supposed to reduce stress and anxiety and stabilize mood disorders. As you would know, stress, anxiety, and mood disorders are part and parcel of what you're going through right now. So why not shop for a mini gardening tool kit and start digging in your backyard with the hopes of supplanting your swollen fingers with a green thumb?
What if you live in a building in a city with no expanse of soil to till? That, too, won't be a problem. You can grow plants in improvised micro gardens. Or you can simply purchase a plant or two and nurture it with all your heart while you wait for baby number one or three to come out. That would be a distraction that's good enough.
Take up photography
If you are a millennial mom, chances are that a photo shoot for your newborn is in the works while they're still in your tummy. You're probably already on the hunt for a reliable photographer and image editing service provider to work with.
Alternatively, you can use your last trimester to learn and take up photography. This way, you'd be able to conduct your baby's first photo shoot yourself.
If you have money to spare, you could purchase a DSLR camera for beginners. Or you could simply use your smartphone, alongside affordable lenses purchased from Amazon. Either way, photography would be a beneficial hobby to pursue while pregnant. It will give you a reason to go out and get some much-needed exercise while snapping beautiful photos.
Learn a new language
Learning something new is easiest when you're doing it simply for kicks. When you're not learning for the purpose of passing an exam or getting some professional certificate, for some reason the process becomes organic. You could use the idle hours of your last trimester for finally elevating your basic French picked up from your foreign language class.
Level up your vocabulary. Brush up on sentence construction. Who knows, the baby in your tummy might even pick up on it and come out shouting "oui" or "oeuf."
Go onTikTok
TikTok does not discriminate. It welcomes people from all age brackets, from Gen Z to baby boomers. It welcomes people of all shapes, from stick-thin models to bloated would-be mommies. Just make sure that your content entertains.
Well, someone with a bulging tummy dancing funny to the latest TikToktune craze will definitely be entertaining. You can even diversify your clips. You could create humorous mini skits revolving around the difficulties of pregnancy. You could even look at a service like Tokmatik to give your video a boost and increase your following. In fact, there are a large number of pregnant Tik Tok creators who have become influencers via their viral videos.
There are many natural risks associated with pregnancy. These risks are amplified now that there's a global pandemic. But that does not mean that you have to stay in bed or inside your room 24 hours a day and avoid doing anything. Such a counterproductive strategy might cause severe damage to your mental health.
You need activities to keep you preoccupied. You need safe social interactions with your immediate support system. So why not dip your swollen but still pretty toes into any or all of the activities mentioned above? Girl, you might become the next knocked up TikTok superstar who happens to be a gardening, photoshop, and language wiz. Not bad, right?
