With millions of dogs and cats ending up in shelters every year, it is important for animal-loving people to do everything they can to help these animals find homes rather than being euthanized as over a million of them are each year. Programs to help people spay and neuter their pets can help, programs to help people care for their dogs instead of deserting them, and funding animal rescue groups can also help. But more needs to be done to make Americans more aware of the plight of abandoned animals.
