Ikea has taken the home furnishing industry by storm over the past decade but now has to account for some faulty manufacturing. This current recall is the kind that you really don’t ever want to see: infant crib mattresses.

“Swedish furniture retailer IKEA AB is recalling about 169,000 crib mattresses because babies can become trapped in a gap between the mattress and the crib, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Tuesday” (Ikea Mattress Recall, 2015).

While there have been reports of a few infants becoming entrapped, it does not appear that any of these accidents have harmed the babies.

Specifically, Ikea is recalling the: “IKEA Vyssa style mattresses with model names Vackert, Vinka, Spelevink, Sloa and Slummer, made in Mexico on or before May 4, 2014, it said”.

This mattress was sold from 2010-2014 and retailed for about $100. Anyone who purchased this mattress should immediately discontinue use. Click here for more info!
