4 Ways To Spend More Quality Time With Your Children

When you are juggling day-to-day life, it can be hard to accomplish everything, and sometimes you will feel that there are not enough hours in the day. One of the things many parents suggest they don't do enough of is spending time with their kids.

You dedicate so much time and energy to running around after them and keeping on top of the household chores that you may struggle to fit in any bonding time. You may also lack a bit of inspiration when considering what to do with them, so we've put together 4 ways to spend more quality time with your children.

Put away phones and gadgets

You may like to check your phone regularly for social media updates or to catch up with friends, but it can interfere with your concentration and affect the level of attention you give your child. One of the best things you can do is put your gadgets away and don't let them distract you.

If your kids are old enough to have tablets and phones, then get rid of theirs too. It can make a big difference to the time you spend together. Children like knowing they have your undivided attention, so wherever possible, give them that.

Have fun with science

There are many science experiments that you can do with products you have at home. Magnetism experiments are great as they don't tend to create as much mess like some of the alternatives.

Magnetic slime, in particular, is always a hit with kids, or you could always try making a homemade compass with a sewing needle and some water. There are loads of experiments you can try which are not only fun but educational too.

Camp in the garden

If you enjoy camping, why not set up your tent in the backyard and camp at home instead! Working together to pitch your tent can be lots of fun, and then afterward, you can settle down in your sleeping bags telling stories until it's time to go to sleep.

If you want to go the whole hog, you could always toast marshmallows and sing songs around the fire pit. Camping is great fun, so don't let the fact that you aren’t on vacation stop you.

Household tasks

There may be days when you are too busy to stop what you are doing, so instead, why not get your children involved?  Teach them how to cook, show them how to use a vacuum cleaner, or teach them how to sew. They may consider these things boring initially, but once they start learning, they may enjoy it and want to get more involved as time goes on.

Basic life skills are essential for kids to learn, so treat it as an opportunity to teach them while spending quality time with them. The more help you get, the more time you will have to do other things with them, which may prove beneficial for everyone.
