Top Christmas Decorating Trends for Your Kitchen

Christmas time is here. We are already seeing Christmas decorations everywhere, Christmas songs are popping over at every mall and public space – and no matter if it is snowing or not, you can already feel that Santa is packing his gift bag and is getting ready to pay every home a visit. However, legend says that Santa will not stop by if your house is not fully decorated for Christmas – and this includes your kitchen as well.

So, how do you decorate your kitchen for Christmas in a way that it is also trendy and respectable for tradition? Some trends have been here for a long time – some are only beginning to become popular. To make sure that your kitchen is ready for Christmas while looking stylish, here are some decoration trends that you might want to consider.

  • Eco Christmas Decorations Are Trending

In a time when sustainability is very important to us, we need our Christmas decorations to be sustainable as well. You’ll be surprised to find out that real Christmas trees are actually more sustainable compared to plastic ones – provided you buy them locally. A fake plastic Christmas tree can actually be considered “eco” only after 20 years of being in use.

A good way to practice the eco Christmas decoration trend is to take a few branches from a fir tree (instead of cutting the entire thing) and decorate your kitchen with them. Create a smaller tree or make a wreath out of them; the beauty of these ornaments is that it will take less for the branches to grow than it will for the entire tree.

  • Golden Glow Christmas Kitchen

Christmas is a time when everything becomes nice and cozy – something which you will want to reflect in the kitchen as well. Take some yellow Christmas lights along with some pillar scented candles, and you will create that cozy holiday atmosphere that we all take joy in.

To bring some color in the kitchen and to make the golden glow pop even more, leave a bowl of red and green fruits on the table. Your kitchen will look more welcoming than ever.

  • DIY Pinecone and Fraser Fir Kitchen Decorations

To this point, we cannot think about Christmas decorations without thinking pinecones and pine or fir trees. For this reason, a popular trend is to adorn your shaker kitchen cabinets and shelves with pine or fir branches, over which you place some pinecones.

You may leave the pinecones as they are – or you may go a bit crazy with the DIY projects and spray them with some glitter. They will glow under the candle lights, and your kitchen will look more Christmassy than it ever did.

Make sure that if you go for fake pinecone decorations, you go for the ones that look as real as possible. People want the “eco” as much as they want the “real” – so unless they’re not at least shaped as real pinecones, they might not look good. Nowadays, the ones that are very popular are the cones that are painted in their actual color.

  • Add Snowflakes on Your Cabinets

These days, you may easily find temporary full stickers to apply to your kitchen cabinets – which you can simply take off once the holidays are over. Go to your local hardware store and see if they have some Christmas specials for you. They are pretty popular nowadays, so you are bound to find something up to your liking.

If you can’t find anything, simply look for shapes – or cut them out of cardboard yourself – and use some aerosol temporary snow spray to create some shapes over your kitchen cabinets and your windows. It will seem like winter has just entered your kitchen. Together with a few fir tree branches placed around, it will surely seem Christmassy. You can easily wash it off after Christmas is over, and it is also a popular trend to follow.

Final Thoughts

Nothing much can really change in regard to Christmas decoration trends when compared to the years before, as Christmas is all about authenticity. However, popular decorations do tend to change – and nowadays, this is how people decorate their kitchens.
