Birthday parties can become a battle ground for the Mommy Wars pretty quickly. In many neighborhoods there’s a lot of pressure to be the one throwing the biggest, best birthday party.

It’s stressful. For one thing, there’s the expense. By the time you’ve called in ponies, clowns and bounce houses you might just need to take out a second mortgage. In fact, some suburban birthday parties have gone so over-the-top that they rival some weddings and bar mitzvahs for the amount of complexity and money that’s going into them.

Then there’s the hassle of the party itself. Getting all the food together. Dealing with the noise generated by dozens of sugar-fueled kids, all intent on tearing up the place.

Then, there’s the aftermath. Hours spent cleaning up the mess.

Fortunately, there is a better way. Urban Air Trampoline Park in Southlake, Texas makes throwing an impressive, entertaining birthday party a snap for busy parents.

A Walk Around Urban Air

When you walk into the facilities you’ll find a place that was absolutely created to foster sweaty, giggly, healthy fun.

It starts with the trampoline floor. Dozens of trampolines stretch out across a huge space. You’ll find kids and adults alike leaping and bouncing. Some even achieve “maximum air,” which allows them to reach improbable heights for flips and other tricks. Trampolines line the walls as well, which offers new opportunities for bouncy fun. They also keep kids safe while they play—slamming into a wall only results in getting bounced back to your jump pad.

But Urban Air doesn’t stop there. It’s added a trampoline basketball court and dodge ball court. They’ve added a foam pit—kids literally launch themselves off of a trampoline into a fluffy bed of giant foam blocks. For those who are feeling particularly adventurous there’s the Warrior obstacle course that’s reminiscent of shows like “Wipeout” and “Ninja Warrior.” The obstacle course includes balance beams, monkey balls, a zip line, and more.

Little siblings can go have fun too. There’s a “toddler jump” to keep them busy and entertained.

Truthfully, Urban Air is a great place to hang out when there isn’t a party in progress. In fact, they have a drop-off program that lets a parent catch a movie or get some shopping done without worrying about the kids. This fact alone should keep Urban Air on any parent’s radar.

Ready, Set, Launch: Urban Air Birthday Parties Are Easy to Set Up

Basically, you call Urban Air and make a reservation. Once you’ve done that, you’re 90% done.

You’ll pay one price for two hours of jump time. That gives you a facility and entertainment. Urban Air also provides a table cloth, table-runners, plates, forks, napkins, balloons, and bottled water. There’s decorations and all the dishes you won’t have to do.

You will still have to handle food and cake on your own. A lot of parents just opt to grab some pizza, cake, and ice cream to make everything as easy as possible. Sure, you’re still dishing out platefuls of sugar, but you’ll be sending the kids off to jump it off in short order, in an environment that was built to accommodate that energy. You could even avoid transporting ice cream, since Urban Air does offer Dipping Dots and slushies for birthday parties as an add-on service.

That’s it—basic birthday party accomplished. Use their pre-printed invitations to get the kids in the right place at the right time on the right day and you’re done. You can schedule a basic package 7 days a week.

If you want to get really fancy and you’re planning far enough in advance, then you can ask for a “glow party.” Urban Air only runs these parties on Friday nights, and they do get booked up quickly. Think 5 to six months in advance if you want to schedule one.

During a glow party, Urban Air shuts off the lights. They bathe everything in black light, bust out the glow in the dark equipment, fire up some pretty lasers and fire up the tunes. In short, they create the kind of party that kids, teens, and even pre-teens tend to talk about for months. Glow parties provide a little dash of “cool factor,” and nobody will worry about the fact that you didn’t shell out for horses, clowns, and live DJs.

Either way, when the party is over you’re only responsible for transporting your happy child and all of his or her gifts back to the house—the house you no longer have to clean. You can feel content knowing that you’ve thrown a party you can be proud of without breaking the bank or going ridiculously over the top.

Getting to Urban Air is Easy
